I replaced my 8D 12v batteries earlier this season and was disappointed to learn that I could no longer find batteries with bolt type terminal posts so I was forced to buy adapter clamps from local auto parts stores. They are not what I would call high quality. They are a lead alloy, and at least two of them broke when I tightened them. When I fastened the battery cables to the posts they would spin on the battery terminals well before I was satisfied with the torque I was applying to the nuts. I just found these on Amazon. They are solid brass and appear to be far more heavy duty than the crap from napa. Anyone have any opinions on using brass instead of lead alloy? Thoughts on corrosion of dissimilar metals?

Thanks Ralph. I looked at those. My cables are typical HD Hatt stuff. I could probably twist them 90 degrees, but it not going to be easy.

I had the same experience with the Ancor battery terminal conversions, and went to the type Ralph mentions.

I made new battery cables as well, so, it worked out.

Ive always had post type batteries and use all brass clamps. Never an issue with corrosion or conductivity. The available all lead clamps were just too weak. I coat them liberally with vaseline. On a dodge plow truck with an odd size battery cable clamps I simply took sheet lead and made a ring around the posts, which then allowed full clamping force on the posts. There are battery post bushings sold for the purpose but I used what I had. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Positive-Negative-Terminals-Converter/dp/B0BMFYWPC1

I saw some military style clamps on Amazon that look like they could work for you, a truck shop could have something similar also.
