  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
34' CONVERTIBLE (1965 - 1969)
A year and a half ago I had battery issues on a trip and had to replace. Turned off the disconnect switch and if fell apart completely. Had to be replaced. Available at Sam's. Now checking over ER items I see the other is cracked and going to come apart too. This is a day after I noticed that one or both of those batteries are going south. Anyone ever experience this? These are the gray 600 amp Guest switches. New one is already on the way.

Yep X 2. Lesson learned is to always rotate them gently. I was able to tell mine were about to come apart beforehand. Replaced with:

Thing is I never turn them off. This is from just sitting in the ON position. Well at least both are new now.

Common problem. I replaced all four of mine several years ago.

The knob on one of my battery switches has fallen off. Switch is operated by pliers now. Does anyone know of a suitable replacement knob or a knob supplier? I think the switch spline is six sided.

Dang! A new pandemic! No one is immune.

This seems to be a common problem, after so many years. I had to replace all 4 on our 1987 45C. When we bought the boat, the main generator did not even crank over. No power, due to the switch falling apart. The other three were already cracked. I think the heat in the ER will deteriorate them over the years.

Replaced them with the same model and it was a real PITA. Cable length doesn't give much working room.

Mine are now Blue Seas Systems replacements. They seem fine. They don't get used much. Has anyone had problems with these?

True! My knob came off in my hand.

Uhhh,...

Well, anyway... The other switch had the grey housing blow apart also. I switched to Blue Seas also. They had better amperage ratings, and the size difference wasn't an issue since I was reconfiguring the electrics anyway.
