Hey Don --
"Port Risk Ashore"
just became the most feared words on the Planet

The UL1316 ALL FUELS rating of Interplastics' VE8770 vinyl-ester resin should satisfy the tank requirements. It is used by gas-stations to barrier-coat existing fiberglass gasoline storage tanks.

But that's why it's been mentioned to me to document with pics & list of materials of all the work & have an inspection, with a written report on the work, by a Marine Surveyor. Insurers may then hear us out at least before they say no...

As for filling the tanks with water before working on them, her tanks were empty when I had her trucked from Texas in 2002 & remain empty. I will check for fumes, not using the "look down the fill-neck with a lit match" technique, but filling with water is a great idea that hadn't occurred to me. Actually, I didn't have a plan if there were fumes.

I've gotta scrub 'em with soapy water during this process anyway. Better to be safe than blown to smithereens.

HEY! Anyone know where I can get six, 55 gallon drums of Dawn dishwashing liquid? I'll fill'em & soak'em with that for a week ahead... the "2-boids-wid-one-stone" theory

Hey Capt'n Bill --

That's my Hatt in the link. I put her up for sale a few years ago out of frustration, while having a billing "dispute" with a yard in NJ I'd had her shipped to from Texas.

It was an utterly outrageous situation, that they quickly dropped when I asked the yard a simple question: "Have you met my attorney?"

She's now at the yard she should have been at all along, Brewer Yacht Yard in Greenport, NY. I've been with them since 1984 & they've done two renovations for me. Correctly done with no surprises, great communications, on time & on budget.

I went with Bob O'Brien 'cause he's a one man crusade to save classic boats & my Hatt needed everything, is certainly a classic, but definitely not wood. 2 out'a 3 ain't bad. He's got half a dozen listings I'd love to renovate & keep!

He must be using her picture now as a Rain-Maker, generating phone calls.

Gougeon said just a matter of time before diesel also has ethanol in it. California is already talking about it.
Naah, not alcohol, but veggie oil, aka biodiesel.
