Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

It's interesting, the same auction company has a 36' Cruisers on auction at the same marina. Both boats were surveyed by the same surveyor on the same day (02/18/19). Could they have been in the repo process for 5 years?

What's Tennessee got to do with it? :)

both boats were owned by the same owner, there is a back story and I hear it involves a divorce where the spouse may have got the boats. Second hand info so please take it as such.

My thoughts exactly. I’ve been very impressed with the TN surveyors I’ve used.

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

No Bids on either boat.

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

Probably because it is a pretty scary way to buy a boat, with a lot of caveats, and the 10% buyers fee isn't helping - I'd expect some quick bids near the end though.

Sounds like He had the last laugh by giving her the boats.

Yes, if it's anything like EBay, it will go crazy in the last 20 minutes. If you could get your 50k bid in at the last minute though...

The way that hi bid site works is that it extends the auction for an extra minute every time there is a higher bid entered. Makes it impossible to snipe an offer. :)

I tried to put a "thumbs up" here but I don't know where it went. Anyhoo, thanks for the info.

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

I know pictures can be deceiving, but it's at least somewhat harder to polish a turd with videos if the resolution is decent. That looks like a really nice boat.

I wonder what the backstory is on this? Usually by the time a boat gets foreclosed on/repossessed it hasn't seen so much as a scrub brush in years, let alone actual maintenance. This one doesn't seem to fall into that category.

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

For a boat to have zero hours put on it in five years is amazing our the hour meters are disconnected. Looks like a great project

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

Looks like it went for $79k. Anyone on here buy it?

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

Nothing so far, but maybe they'll pipe up soon. Hope so.

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

That boat has been sold, The new owner was asking about it on a Hatteras Facebook page

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

Looks like she has an enthusiastic pair of new owners!

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

I moved this boat today for the new owner. She needs a good fluff and buff, but the interior teak is as nice as I’ve ever seen.

Re: Auction 58’ Yachtfish - Bank Repossed

Nice to hear. Hope they join up here and tell us what they are doing with their new boat.

He’s already a member. The boat is in very good condition overall, but I ended up having to do one of my famous one winged deliveries. It was like old and not so old times.

The port Racor is leaking down badly. I primed everything and got it to fire, but it would only run/stumble for ten seconds or so. Starboard fired right up but died after about 15 minutes. Was casting off lines and heard it stumble. Changed out the Racor, which looked fine, primed the Racor and secondary, and she fired right up. No smoke no nothing. Ran great until it died 1.5 miles away from our destination. Repeated the previous routine including another filter, but no dice. Ended up having to be towed in. The joys of buying an auctioned boat with no survey. Ironically enough, it was three slips down from Robby and Brenda’s 53MY which I helped them find and delivered it to them from MI to MS a few years ago. They provided the spare filters as there were none, and none were available anywhere close. It was good visiting with them. They had met the PO and said the boat hadn’t moved in three years or so.

It won’t take much to make her right. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the boat. The interior is in excellent shape, the ER’s are clean, and the paint was in good shape but just needed some love. Overall I think he did very well.

Always nice to hear about someone getting a good deal. They are still out there.
