  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' LRC (1975 - 1981)
We'll be cruising the lower/middle bay this weekend. Would live to catch up with anyone heading south.
Beer is cold! Let us know and stop on by!

Where are you headed Jeff? We're cruising up the James to an anchorage at Chippokes (across River from Kingsmill) for the weekend.

i did a quick overnight stop in Fishing bay two days ago... leaving Portsmouth this morning, unfortunatly no time to even get ashore!

We are in the Yecomico and headed for Fishing Bay/Piankatank this afternoon. Next stop Portsmouth or Hampton, then we'll head through the bridges/lock on Sunday. I thought I'd try to get one of the free docks in Portsmouth for Friday/Saturday. Anybody else around?

Sounds like I'm just going to miss everyone.
Mike, not sure which way we're headed at this point. No plans, just cast off the lines and head out.
If we head that far south, I'll give you a shout.

btw, the LNTM about a 2 hour notice for the Beltline bridge is wrong... the barge working on the fender system is off to the side. there has been some conflicting information but the bridge tender confirmed the LNTM is wrong...

We will be in Salt Ponds - Hampton - Slip K7 on Saturday giving Andante some TLC boat cleaning.
If you slip in Salt Ponds - Hampton - look us up.

BobK, we're only one block from the P-town dock you're talking about. We'll walk over Friday evening and see if you're there.

Pascal, sorry we missed you when you came through. Maybe you could let us know when you are heading North in the spring....

Jeff
We are going to be at the York River Yacht Haven Saturday-Sunday if you decide to come by we would love to intertain you and see your LRC.

i was going to stay two more days but then things changed... spring sounds nice, Naomi will meet me and will want that ride! :)

Anchored north of Alligator Bridge tonight, by East Lake.

Very little traffic, maybe it is because i'm a week earlier than usual but i've never seen coinjock with only 4 transient total (both marinas)... and i passed thru after 3 which is when most boats are already tied up.

Mike,

We'll leave the Pianktank at 0700, ought to reach Portsmouth about noon. Any advice on tying into the free dock (North Landing)?

Bobk

When I passed there yesterday I noticed the pilings are very low, much lower than the rub rail on most MY. Not ideal and hard to set the fenders to land right on the pilings

Everytime I been by it s always full anyway, mostly sailboats and trawlers

Mike & Cindy, BobK asked me to post his new plan to be at Ocean Marine tonight, actually later this afternoon. His computer developed some issues so I'm posting this for him. He hopes to meet with you folks, and others there if possible.

Thanks

Thanks Walter. Yes, tying up in the either of the two free landings at Portsmouth can be a problem at times, particularly when we're at or near a full moon (like today).

We had a rough ride down from the Piankatank to Hampton Roads Friday and decided to forgo the free dock and tied up next to Mike and Cindy on Southern Comfort at Ocean Marine. After getting most of the salt off, we joined them for pizza dinner and tours of the boats. We'll fuel Sunday morning and continue south.

I have no idea why the snowbird traffic is different. You would think that there would be a lot of folks headed South right now. Did they all leave a month early because of Irene? I can't imagine they did. I know Coinjock was full right after the storm because a lot of the OBX charter fleet was holed up there, according to one of my friends who runs a dive boat in Hatteras.

I wonder... Yesterday in 100 miles between Albemarle and Adams creek north of beaufort i only passed a handful of sailboats and one trawler... Was passed by just one gorgeous dark hulled trumpy...

So far today just a few sailboats past beaufort.

It may pick up later on the month but inhave to believe that this is a reflection of what is happening in the boating industry, and the economy in general

Skooch is just up the Piankatank from the Fishing Bay anchorage near Roane Pt anchored and waiting for the Sunday morning drop in the SW-W winds. Plenty of room for a few more Hatts. Well protected from SW-little less W winds, sunny and nice. Cocktails at 5.

Beach Nut was planning on heading south from Richmond Hill but now have to wait to get the new battery installed. Maybe a week or two. Also waiting on 2 raw water pumps to get rebuilt by Depco. Was planning on staying in the St. Augustine area for a about a week. Not sure now that we can't leave on time.
