I have a Maxwell Anchor Chain Stopper that I intend to install. Lets says I am running 30-40' of anchor chain, then line. Can I trust the Chain Stopper to retain the chain safely, while underway, or is a Pelican Hook also recommended.

If you re talking about the slotted piece on a pin that flips down, yeah it works fine.

I have a 'heavy duty' chain stopper forward of the windless with a 55lb delta anchor. Chain stopper prevents the windless from taking any strain and is through bolted with a backing plant. With this setup I feel safe. If the chain stopper were light weight I just might use the chain hook as well.
