I have not heard of this product. What is the advantage? Does it build up and eventually have to be stripped? We use VC-17 and it works OK but its real advantage is that it has no film thickness and therefore never builds up to any significant amount. I removed 18 coats of Interlux "Bottomkote" and I never want to go through that again.

Maynard: If you do a search for "Ameron" there are a number discussions. Seems like the principal benefits are that it's a long lasting (supposedlu up to 5 years) ablative which doesn't have to be removed. I think the last postings were back in March/April of this year. I'd be curious if anybody who has used it has any updates.

One concern is that the divers that clean bottoms refuse to do boats that have ablative paints. They say it will kill them. With our boat in Miami we rely on a monthly bottom scrub by a diver.

I have never heard of this and all the boats I service have ablative paint. I have used Micron in its various forms since 1983. All the boats are maintained by divers monthly. You should NOT scrub ablative, the motion of the boat through the water cleans it.
