Hatteras Model
37' CONVERTIBLE (1977 - 1982)
Good morning,
My port side alternator bracket is broke on my 1978 J&T 671N , I called Johnson & towers and the bracket is no longer available. Any help with this, It is the adjuster part of the bracket a thin slotted piece of metal
Thanks Jim

I had a similar problem with the port bracket on our 1979 671TI. Mine broke at the pivot point. I had it rewelded. Could not get it from J&T either. You may have to get a welding shop to make you up the same part.

If this is the adjustor which tilts the alternator for belt tension, get a similar one from most automotive stores...if its the slotted adjustor which sets the length of the bracket between legs of the alternator maybe getting it welded is the course of least resistance.

I had a similar situation and used a big turnbuckle between the broken piece and the alternator ,allows for easy adjustment also....................Pat

Thanks for the replies , stupid me should have thought of welding it. I just thought the might be a NOS source
Thanks Jim

Cheer up-- I bought a used bracket from DD in NOLA. Half price was
147 BEANS !! HALF PRICE I said ! I needed the new bracket to mount a late model Delcotron alternator on and get rid of the Frankenstein unit. The bracket also happened to be a cover plate for a water jacket necessitating me draining 20 gallons of fresh anti freeze. The tensioner bracket was a mere $20.
Its painted white in the pic. ws
