Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
Looking for ideas of what people have done when replacing the original condensers on a 1985 45' Hatteras. In the saloon there is table, starboard aft that holds the evaporator and blower. Has anyone retrofitted that to have a self contained unit. Likely a bit noisy. I have emailed steve who is on this site already. My condensers are mounted starboard side between the engine and the hull. check out the picture

Don't wait for Steve to respond. If he does it will be a miracle.

I personally find the one piece units noisy and would rather replace what you have with newer components that run even quieter. We sell both webasto and the cruisair lines and I see price pushing to the one piece units as there is no install cost outside of the ducting parts because you can do it yourself without a professional to charge it. That said you get what you pay for.

Scott,
Thanks for the reply. Are the cruise Air unit replacement units call the R series?

The r series is the replacement for what you have. I think dometic is the parent company

Dometic is the parent company and the r will work but many people upgrade when that replace them and get new controls or mode features. Usually if 1part has lived a long service life and died the rest are close behind.

George, what model cats are those? What kind of speed are you getting?

I'll take the old ones off your hands. PM me if interested.
