  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
48' MOTOR YACHT-Series II (1990 - 1995)
Some users had asked for feedback on our new aft deck grill. We finally had a chance to use it this weekend with various foods... Saturday: burgers and tuna steaks, Sunday morn: bacon! The grill is awesome. Cooks well for such a compact unit with very minimal smoke. We were concerned about heat in the cabinet, but it's not an issue at all. I monitored the sides as well as the interior and it never built up a lot of heat. It's a KENYON FRONTIER B70056.

Looks beautiful! I didn't check the model number on the web but is it 110 or 220volt model?

I have a similar Kenyon ,(mine has an arched top) love it except it's impossible to keep clean and when you do clean it it gets all over the place. Still trying to figure that one out........Need a wire brush attchement on the shop vac or something like that .....Pat

Unusual. I've had my Kenyon since 2007 just like above with arched top and it is easy to clean. I just spray a degreaser and it wipes clean on the inside. I take the top off and grill and spray with a hose and it sparkles.

How's the food taste after you spray de-greaser on the grill. All you need to do with these units is brush them off after heating them up and killing the germs and burning off the crud. . I think that one of these days someone who has lived an entierly germ free life will brush up against a germ and the whole world as we know it will end. ....... but that's just my opinion.

I have a Kenyon built in too. Great grill. Much better than I was expecting actually.

The trick to cleaning is, while still hot but turned off, is to place a paper towel over the grill bars then sprinkle with water. Everything pretty well comes straight off.

I had no problem cleaning it - just pulled out the grill top, sprayed with a hose and just wiped with a paper towel. Maybe it will get a little more difficult when the non-stick surface wares.

Food tastes fine. My degreaser is Dawn.

I replaced the grill on the boat I run with a 220v Kenyon, forgot the brand of the old one, princess maybe, it wasn't well built and didn't last more than 4 years

The Kenyon on the other hand is very well build, heavy stainless, easy to remove lid. That said, I am a little disappointed with the heat level which is not as hot as the old one and just doesn't sear the meat as well.

The design is flare prof as the heating element is hidden under the grill which makes it impossible to burn the meat but on the other hand doesn't seem to get as hot. I put refracting brickets under the element which helps a little but still not as hot as the old one

As to cleaning, I love it. I wipe the grease off while still hot and then when cold wash the grill surface in the sink. I wouldn't use a metal brush as it will scratch the non skid.

As a charter boat, we use it a lot, it s in a cabinet on the swim platform and guests like it..who doesn't like the smell of grilled food :) just wished it was a little hotter.

If I buy the grill will you come cook on my boat? I'm drooling on my keyboard!

This is a great thread. I've been thinking about adding one. Which models are you guys using? 110V or 220V?

I use the portable 110v and cook in my cockpit. It cooks evenly and I've used it since they were introduced in 2007. My first one had a problem in the switch and even after warranty, they replaced the grill with a new one. I've even made small pizzas on it due to the even cooking method.

Kenyon makes several built-in models with options for lid size, controls and voltage. We chose the half-height lid because the installation location was tight and I didn't want it to hit the entry door. Also chose the sealed electronic controls vs the rotary dial -- thought it might hold up better in the salt environment. So far the heat seems adequate with our 110v model.

This is our set up...
