Well I had All Fire of Florida out to the boat and after seeing that the bottom of the tank on the back against the bulkhead was rusty she started talking about all kinds of option, but she admitted she didn't know what to do, but would call me back later that day. Well I called back and left a message, but still nothing. Anyone know how thick those Kidd tanks are?

Mine had some rust on the bottom, its CO2. I sanded it all down, masked off the decals and repainted. It was tested and filled later for 100.00. I wonder if CO2 could be put in a Halon tank and the sensors still work as required. Halon is prohibited now is it not.

Anyone know how to control the orientation of your pictures when uploading/attaching here?

In my experience, A rusty Halon tank will be condemned by the service folks. This means an upgrade to the "new" stuff and it's big buck$.

Yeah that doesn’t look good. It’s time to replace. Last time I checked my tank was good but needs recertification. I’m not sure if I have halon or CO2 but it’s piped for both eng rooms and genset and has the manual pull and auto with shutdowns for mains I assume. I have considered upgrading to single units for each but that’s on hold. Good luck keep us posted

There has to be a place where the good tanks go when boats are scraped or upgraded? I just need to find one it seems.

Had mine removed and Hydro tested some years ago. 1 failed, and the testing Company, and I believe it was Kidde, replaced it with a serviceable unit for a very reasonable charge.. like $200 bucks..
