  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
I have a 1988 52'C with 3 staterooms. I want to convert the bunks in the forward state room to a full size bed. has anyone seen or done something like this? i will do the work myself but i am having a difficult time repositioning the space in my head and thought i would check on here to see if anyone has done something similar. Any input would be great.

I don't think you have the room for a center island berth. Even an offset full bed might encroach on the entrance to the stateroom. Can you eliminate the top bunk and get enough room for a full size bed by raising the lower berth?

I did this in a much smaller boat. It is not that difficult. I am out of town right now but if you email me I will describe what we did and how it turned out, which was very well indeed. I should be home within a few days.

Ya i was thinking of removing the top bunk and raising the bottom bunk up to make enough room for an off center berth but just dotn know how it will come out.

Jim if you can email me some pics when you get back i would really appreciate it. what boat do you have btw?

I did this to the forward stateroom on my 53 MY

Wow, Northcott! Please post more pics and construction detail if you have it.

I will see about more pics later in the week. I'm leaving for Germany in an hour.

Like the idea but I have a 42c 1978 dont think I have the room

what I do need is some old cabinet doors to match what I have now

If anyone knows were I can get them Id appreciate it

its easier than building them

Series I 36C, but it may be useful to know what we did. I should be back by Saturday evening more or less. I may try to send you a PM describing what we did. If I can make it better than a waste of your time.

Here is a stateroom on a 52c I looked at some years ago. All thats missing are a couple hot chicks.

I think that was Austin Power's boat. Yeah Baby!

Scrod, you have just saved me a lot of work, PLUS the potential risk of making a fool of myself when I described it diifferently in a new thread- thank you a great deal.

Take a look at that, Ariel, and tell me if it does you any good on your project. There are a lot of ways to accomplish this aim.
