Once in a while I post about a new tool I have that "works". This tool is for cutting plastic pipe, esp. for lawn sprinklers, but I have tried on heavier PVC pipe, and it made a good, clean, straight cut. This was on 3/4" and 1" OD pipe.
The tool is a General Model #118, blades ID #118BG. Sorry, no pic; gotta figure that out, now that I have a camera that functions. But it is bright red, about 18" long, 6" wide, and very heavy duty. With each cutting stroke, it locks in position and holds for you to make the next stroke, via some built in gearing. Makes it easy to manage the cutting. Definately beats a saw or a sharp knife (did cut myself long time ago...ouch).
If you are changing out some piping for PEX, PVC, etc., or maybe a home application, then look this up at a Menard's, Lowe's, etc. It makes cutting plastic pipes very easy, IMHO.
I also used it to cut some thick tree branches, in a pinch (1-1.5").
My report...
