  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
But for time spent in the Merchant Marine, at Tulane and Ole Miss, RK Hollister spent his 82 year life on or in sight of the Mississippi Sound. He raced cat boats as a boy, and after returning home owned and enjoyed a number of boats, including the Yacht Marie, a 36, or so, single gas engine wood hull Owens, a Pacemaker, and in 1976, the Ali Cat, a 43 Gulfstar MY which is still in the family. Degenerative problems with an ankle broken while fishing at Chandeleur Island combined with knee problems put a stop to his active boating a few years years ago, but he continued to enjoy boats including watching over Lilly Marie in his back yard.

He loved and was good with boats but better still with people. He saw and worked to bring out the good in most everyone he met. He raised 5 children and I married his oldest. He was as good a person as I have known.

He died Saturday from a heart attack while recovering from knee replacement surgery.

Sorry for your loss Vincent. He sounds like the type of person the world needs a lot more of, that are becoming fewer and further between every day. :(

Vincent,

Sorry about your loss. I truly understand what it's like to lose a great friend who also happens to be your father in law. I lost my father in law to a heart attack in 1976 and hardly a day goes by that I don't recall some fond memory about him. A great father and grandfather and father in law/best friend. Your father in law sounds like he to was a wonderful person who has helped enrich your life.

Sorry for your loss Vincent. Hang in there. One of my great friends, Kirk Landry of Dondaldsonville, LA. died of a heart attack two weeks ago, I flew in for the funeral. He was 51 years old and in great health.....

Really makes you stop and think....

Thanks for the kind and thoughtful observations. The funeral was yesterday and we truly enjoyed a celebration of K's life with the company of his family and friends. I did not get to see him, but felt his presence.
Regards,
Vincent
