FWIW,

Below is the link for anyone interested. The reason this boat went down may never be known so I don't think there is much to learn here except, have a safety plan and make sure all of your safety gear is only one minute away from being deployed.

as usual every article you read is different... this one mentions a sailboat and that it was carrying a pwc ! the video shown on other sites, showed the bow of waht look a power boat bobing in the water and sinking. not a sailboat !

most stories say it happen 10 miles offshore except CNN which said 25 miles...

amazing how they can't get it straight covering such a simple story !

anyway... as usual, no mention of what happened or any attempt to save the vessel. you often read stories of boats going down and the crew apparently doesn't do anything...

lesson is... make sure those bilge pumps are running, test the float switches and dash lights and know your boats. Many people jsut buy a boat and are totally clueless about systems, sea cock location or what to do in an emergency... "we'll just a call AAA.... hmmm.. seatow"

knowing your boat is critical and having a plan in case you blow a hose or loose a shaft... that may include keeping a bike helmet on board in case you have to go overboard to plug a shaft hole form the outside !

The film clips this morning on our ABC affiliate in Ct definitely showed the bow of a newer powerboat with a nice bow thruster going down by the stern.

Not a pretty sight for sure!

K :(

the USCG site has an audio clip of the distress call..

the only 63/66 footer named Imagination in the USCG doc db is a 2001 Queensland, of course hard to see just looking at the bow.

Wow, scary stuff. My bet is that if a water scooter did become unsecure and fall off, it probably holed the hull somewhere near or at the waterline on it's way down. I can't imagine any other scenario that would be related to the scooter being lost, then immediately thereafter the mother ship is lost.

Where did you go to find this info??

you can search by vessel name or doc number...

not sure this is the right boat... after all it could be a foreign flagged boat too.. there are quite a few around here.

the PWC can be seen floating around in some of the footage.. if it had holed the hull id' think if woudl have gone down ... who knows... they did report water in the ER, maybe they hit something and ripped shaft
