  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
67' COCKPIT MY (1987 - 1995)
Running from West End, Grand Bahama to FLL, I heard a clicking noise while inspecting just after dark. I inspected the engine and could see what it was and shut the engine down for the trip home other than to heat the gears every hour.

I got out my service manual and still am not sure ow to describe it much less fix it. So here goes my description and please help me figure out what I am dealing with.

On the forward side of the port engine, on the port side, a shaft comes out of the block and has a pulley on the end. I believe that shaft is called the balance shaft but correct me if I am wrong. It hooks to a pulley that drives the Jabsco Raw Water pump on the outboard side of the port engine.

The clicking noise came from a metal collar around that shaft riding freely. The collar is about a quarter inch wide. The only thing in the manual that looks like it is the drive plate but the picture and object I am dealing with are not identical.

What have I got wrong, what does it take to fix, what do I need to tell the DD guy Monday morning?

If you want to inquire and advise by phone just send a PM.

All help much appreciated.
