I looked at one in St. Pete Beach on Treasure Island last night. I am worried the exhaust pipes through the main cabin to the stern are original. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to examine them. I like the boat and want to submit an offer but am worried that the exhaust is original.

Some sections can be viewed. Port side for instance there should be hatches under the mid ship cabin bunk. In the master it depends on the layout as many of these have been converted from twins to queen so cabinetry may have been changed. But there should be some hatches under the beds. On the stbd side there are hatches and panels under the vanities.

When I repowered my 53 4 years ago (same layout as the YF minus the cockpit) we redid the exhausts as they had to be bigger for the higher HP engines. The original hoses had turned very soft and were partially collapsed. No leaks but not confidence inspiring. In my case it wasn’t a hard job because I had gutter the master and midship to combine them so I had left plenty of access anticipating the repower

I suspect a majority of these boats are still running the original exhausts

First, to answer your question, sure, you can access the exhaust in a couple different places to put eyes on it, the easy one being in the master stateroom where down towards the floor there's a hatch that opens up to a crawlspace under the built-in cabinetry, the exhausts run down those crawlspaces on each side of the master and exit out the back of the boat. You can get to a large part of the exhaust run through there.

With that said, this isn't something significant to stress over. I had to replace the rubber hoses in the exhaust system on my last boat and it cost me about $10k to have the marina do it. This is a 60' boat, with two large diesels, two generators, 4 different electrical systems (220v, 120v, 32v, 12v), 3 heads, plus most likely a synchronizer, stabilizers, inverter, etc., etc., etc. These boats can and will eat $30-$40k like it's nothing when you have anything beyond minor service done. In the grand scheme of things, that isn't a particularly significant expense to stress over.
