Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series I (1964 - 1971)
Hey Guys!
Hope everyone is well. Its been quite awhile sense I have been online. I got a question I need to see if anyone knows if a 1975 58 Yachtfish has a cored hull or decks. I have never had one that new LOL. All the Hatts I have had were in the 60's. I guess Im just getting to old to remember these things. I am going to look at one tomorrow. Thinking I might want to get back into boating. Swore I never would after I sold the 41 sporty. It just gets in ya blood.
Anyway tomorrow just going for a quick walk through. Of course if I like what I see, will get a pro involved. If you have anything you think I might want to be thinking about tomorrow while I am looking please let me know. Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks in advance for any input.

The decks will be cored.

PM Diver Down. Mike has a '77 and can probably tell you all you need to know.

Hi Cy,
Good to hear from you again, I often wondered where you went. Dave

Thanks guys. I will try to get some pics and update later today or tomorrow.

Solid hull, cored decks. Good luck. They are nice boats, I was just on DD's and it is a great layout.

Good to hear from you again, last time was around the time of Katrina. Hope all is well with you.

Welcome back. As stated the decks will be cored and the transom most likely is, but not certain.

CY,i agree with the above posts..... are you looking at the yf that is on e-bay? if so, jimmy b. on the forum looked at her and may be able to give you some insight into her. i own a 72 58yf so if there are any further questions, ask here or PM me, and i will help in any way that i can. bigbill

On the 58 TC 1974, the ENTIRE hull is solid. Transom is solid to just above exhaust pipes. Deck, deckhouse roof and pilothouse roof is cored. I havent been into the keel yet, but this is what Ive found so far... ws

Yep, the transom was indeed cored on my old 1972 58YF (between the exhaust pipes), even below the waterline. I confirmed this when I added a Slane swim platform and had to dig out the core in an area around the brackets to fill with epoxy for strength.

Hull sides and bottom were solid glass.

Yup I was thinking same thing so were's your old 34C?

Dan

Well lets just say, to much worked needed to get me excited. I will say I love the layout of the 58 YF. Gonna keep looking though. Thank you all for your answers. You guys have not changed a bid. Great bunch of guys!

Dan he had the 41c that he bought from great lakes area, freshwater boat.

Wow you guys sure have good memories. But yep I had the 34 before the 41 I brought the 34 "Over Time" down from Bayonne NJ. As best I know she is somewhere on the Alabama coast. And the 41 "Old Hatt" I brought down from Sarnia BC and is still here in the south Louisiana area of Houma La.
At the time of Katrina I had both! I kept the 41 in Waveland Ms. and the 34 was in Madinsonville La. Trying to figure out where the storm was going I moved the 41 from Islander Marina in Waveland Ms. to Madinsonville La. just two days before Katrina. Turns out this was one the best moves I ever made. Islander Marina and Waveland was literally washed away. Every boat in the marina, not one survived.
The day before Katrina I prepared both boats for the approaching storm. I remember I kept thinking the next time I see these boats they would be at the bottom of the marina or worse. It was a week after the storm before local police would even let us back into the area. Lost a lot of sleep that week. They were both on floating docks. If the water had got another 10-12 inches, docks would have floated over the tops of the pylons. Not a scratch on either boat, I was very lucky!

I think that was the last time you logged on. I remember we kept asking how you made out and nobody knew. That was one reason I asked about the 34 and you know I am partial to them also :)
Glad to hear you made out well with both boats It just took 5 years to find out ;)
