545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way..

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

"We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!"

Works for me.

IT'S THE "TAKE OUT FOOD" SYNDROME!

The American people ordered take out. A roast beef grinder with extra beef and extra cheese. When they got home and opened their grinder it was vegetarian but they were just to tired from the long grueling day and just to beaten down to get dressed, get in the car, go to the restaurant, and have their order re-done....so what DO they do ? Gripe and eat the vegetarian.

We ordered a highly competent moral government, we got a vegetarian grinder, but we're just to tired and beaten down to go back and get our order redone correctly so we just gripe and live with them.

If your pizza place is like mine the 'to go" order is wrong regularly.

Well Said! I hope that in November 2010, people still remember.

Never again vote for an encumbent....never ever again. Time to clean house from top to bottom.

For the first time in a long time I am excited about the possibility of a thorough house cleaning in NJ. From all I have seen and heard so far our new Governor (Chris Christie) looks like a real take name and kick a$$ kind of guy. Let's hope. Maybe it will catch on throughout the country. We need to get back to government of the people by the people. We have swallowed so much political crap from all sides that it's now time to through up.

That's a very good reminder of how things should work. The problem as I see it is that we as Americans of all political beliefs have allowed ourselves to be conditioned into excepting horrible job performance from our elected officials. We except it as normal washington politics. We allow ourselves to submit to the could be worse or it's better than nothing mind set. We don't have to we choose to. The truth is we hold are automobile mechanic to a hire standard than our elected officials for no reason at all.

Shouldn't the title be 545 criminals?

Shouldn't the title be 545 criminals?

Yes, plus add “all are traitors”, and “all” are "a clear and present danger to our republic"!!! I agree vote all the SOB’s out!!!

Actually, many of these problems are not the fault of 545 people--the fault lies on the populace. The constitution was written to LIMIT federal government and ensure they don't have much power. The federal gov duties were explicitly defined and the states were supposed to take care of the rest.

Then came people that thought the federal gov should "be the boss"...one thing led to another and we have the War of northern Aggression and then Lincoln wipes his ass with the constitution. A few years later FDR lights the crap stained constitution on fire and toss in a few wars, some hippies, a couple of financial bubbles, and we end up where we are.

All along the way the American people allowed this to happen. Today's politicians are more stupid than anything else. But so is our population. Nobody can think for themselves and take care of themselves. We have more people going to college than ever before, yet people are stupider than people that only had a 5th grade education 50 years ago.

There's one hell of a differance between educated and smart.

Agree 100% Craig. obama was elected because he was not Bush and because he was black, well half black anyway. Obama is the least qualified person to ever hold the office and he has a radical agenda to change America into a socialist utopia that only lives in the minds of radical leftists.

The lemmings who only heard a good speaker and thought they were in for some handouts put this bunch of marxists into office along with the MSM. God save us!

Not bad kid, I'm proud of you.

Unfortunately, our politicians are a direct reflection of our population. As our population dumbs down, so will our leadership. They tell the masses what they want to hear, and for better or worse, many will try to keep their constituents happy, if for no other reason than to be re-elected. Until we get rid of the appeal of that government tit, we'll continue this downward spiral into socialism.
