Does anyone know how to operate the Nutone Central Vac located above the starboard engine? No mention of it in the Hatteras manuals anywhere. I assume that it is an original system due to the plumbing issues but I cannot seem to find the switch to power it up! I have tried inserting the hose into different connection points that would activate a standard house unit, but to no avail. There are spare parts and several attatchments for this unit on board, so I must assume it was functioning properly not long ago. There are two light switches as you decend into the galley on your left. One is for the 32v lights in the galley and the other does not seem to do anything on my boat that I can tell. Could this be related to the central vac? Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The other switch on my galley lights is for the 110v lights in the same fixtures as the 32v lights. Each galley fixture has one 32v bulb and one 110v bulb unless it was rewired at the fixture. Mine were rewired and I changed them back to the original configuration.

EXCELLENT! Thank you Sky for the quick reply. Now I can't wait to drop one of the glass globes in the galley and see if there is an extra bulb socket in there for 110v, maybe just with burned-out bulbs. I love when solutions are simple, though they rarely are!

I doubt that it's original. If it was installed by Hatteras, the wires to the motor will have the Hatteras wire numbering system tags on them. Also, try following the wires from the vac motor back to wherever they go to see where there's a switch. If you don't already have them, order the electrical schema and blueprints and owner's manual for your boat from Hatteras. It might show if there was a special vac installed.

Doug, Good idea to look for the Hatteras numbers and then chase the wires. I even bought an electronic labeler recently so I can re-label wires that I re-splice! I have looked at the original Hatteras schematics and blueprints that I bought from them recently but not being an electrician I cannot understand all of it. I did not see anything specifically labeled for a vacuum anywhere. You are probably right, aftermarket. Thanks!
