I wouldn't part with mine but you are looking for a good boat in my opinion. If I can answer any questions for you feel free to ask. I know these boat pretty well. If you'll do a search there are some good threads on here about the potential problem spots to look for on these boats. Also there are a lot of 53C's around with some extensive refits. Blinded by love owners like me put tons of money into the boats with no thought of resell value. I'll let my nephew worry about that when I'm gone. If you fine one of these you can get a great updated boat for a good value. I am in an area with lots of high priced convertibles and you can bet with a 53C, you'll run with any of them when the weather turns ugly. The only thing I'd say negative is that if you are one of the need to go fast guys, don't look at this boat. The amount of HP it takes to move this tank of a boat at high speeds is ridiculous. I think that a set of modest HP modern diesels, say around 700 HP, will give you a good 24 knot cruiese. That would be about the sweet spot. I know of higher HP and speed but the fuel burn is insane. I don't think she handled as well either. There is to much keel under the boat to go much faster. Good luck on your search.

My wife and I have decided to let our 1977 Classic MY go.
It's a fresh water boat located on Lake Texoma just north of Dallas, TX.
We don't have a broker as of yet, and we're asking $289,000.
Some of the major updates we've done in the last 4-5 years include new genset, 4 new a/c units, inverter, all new batteries last month, Robertson autopilot, Garmin GPS (2), Walker airseps, granite galley, carpet, ++.
The galley and aft deck are all teak. No paint where it shouldn't be.
The 8v71 engines have about 300 hours since major overhaul.
We looked at moving the boat a couple of years ago, and the cost to truck it to Houston would be about $10,000.
This is a "no apologies" boat. It's been under cover here for at least the last 13+ years.
