Thanks Pat , that is a great diagram. Also, are the four dark vertical lines that are drawn for the keel up to about the waterline where the bulkheads are ? I cannot read everything on the diagram. I presume that the support blocks would go below these.

Thanks again

For anyone else that is interested, Steve at Sam's sent me this reply about getting the original paperwork for my 53MY

Please speak with Paul Hall in customer service at Hatteras Yachts. phall@hatterasyachts.com or 252 636 7219. Please have the hull number of the boat. Paul will ask for that first.

I am calling tomorrow and see what they have and I will report back with what I get.

Jason-
Yes the dark vertical lines are for blocking locations, but with a qualifier. In the diagram, but not shown in the picture I posted, was a cradle design to support the boat in dry dock. Those dark lines are where the cradle points would go. They were not individual support blocks, but it's logical that the blocks would be placed where the cradle was designed to go.

Hi Pat, I just got an email today from Paul at Hatteras with the same picture you posted showing the cradle. Funny that the one he emailed did not show the lifting slings like your did, so thanks a million. I will try to post the one that he emailed to me or if not I can forward to anyone via email.

Thanks again

I would be interested in that diagram as well if it's not too much trouble to send to gschnase at personainternet dot com

Thanks in advance.

The framework that holds my winter cover is similar to that- mine is in three pieces, although I think the center one weighs more than seventy. We are making a new support structure for it this fall, modeled on the old one. If you have any closeups of how you did the joints, I would like to see them. I think it is more stable than the arrangement mine was originally built with.

Here are some pictures that show some of the fittings in place during assembly (or disassembly).. Maybe a little hard to see as some of them are partially covered by padding. If you need paper patterns or dimensions, let me know.DSCN1463A.webpDSCN1464A.webp

Two more. The first one is some spare plates and fittings. The second one is of all the pieces sitting in storage , but you can see some of the fittings and connection details.

Oooops, posted one pic twice, so here is the one I meant to post.

Ugg, you guys are reminding me why I like to take the Chateau south for the winter. I dreaded winterizing and wrapping and always put it off until it was too cold.

I have been enjoying this thread about slings and winterising. The concept of covering a boat in wrap for winter is quite beyond me.

I have a couple of photos of our boat being lifted before it came to Australia. The original boat was a 1985 61MY #353 and the first owner then added a 9' cockpit.

Under the cockpit floor is a 300 gallon fuel tank, but we keep this empty and it does not seem to affect the weight and balance. What is interesting is that the "new" transom is only 8" underwater.

WOW.. it sure looks scary to see your boat suspended high over the water with only two "small" slings holding it up. Good looking boat.
