Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
We are in the process of upgrading to a Hatteras 52' Convertable (8v92's) and have a few questions,
Want to make sure we have the proper ingredients and enough of them.

1-We want to empty fresh water side of cooling systems, flush and refill.
What/how would you flush the cooling system, How much is required?
What coolant to refill and how much will be required per motor.
What would you use to flush the raw water side, how much required?
Part# For new raw water impeller
Also need to do the Onan so the same questions as above here also.

2-This vessel seems to be missing a couple of items we will require:
Bow Rail was removed a couple of owners ago, would also like a swim platform,
any lines on some used ones?

3-We are going to have the spare propellers reconditioned and would like to know what
wheels other 52's are running to make sure they are correct for the vessel.

Thanks,

If i recall, the fresh water side holds about 16 gallons. I just use pencool 2000 additive and distilled water, but that's because i live in southern California and i don't have to worry about freezing.

To flush out the raw water side, i usually remove the impeller and hook up a pump to inlet and outlet to one of the zincs on the raw water side. (in and out hoses). Remove the rest of the zincs as well and plug up before you run the cleaner through. Then use a bucket and a spare bilge pump to circulate a mild cleaning acid through the system. Do not use muriatic acid! muriatic if not mixed correctly can eat away at the heat exchanger. google Rydlyme and see what they have to offer for heat exchanger cleaners.

Search the forum as well, as it has been discussed many times.

Look up Barnacal Buster on utube. It walks you through thre flush.

X2, do not use muriatic acid. I believe both Rydlyme and Barnacle Buster are muriatic acid. Check the MSDS. I would suggest you use diluted phosphoric acid, and if you can find it, add some oxalic acid (wood bleach) to it. It works very well and does not produce corrosive fumes.

currentely have a set of 32x32 with .07 cup thats the ticket. after working on the darn things for 4 pullouts. when the botton is squeaky clean and filters new the 892 will turn 2400 tops when the thing gets dirty filters and bottom is so so 2325 is the number at wide open. Thats the cooked goose.
