  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
We headed out of Ft Pierce at 6:30 am, ready to do battle. I put out a 6 line spread plus a daisy chain and a spreader bar. We trolled from the 60' line to 420' with nothing. Then we tooled across the Oculina Bank back to 70'. Scattered weeds and a turtle here and there but once again nothing. We run into a dockmate while out there and he has the big goose egg as well. We turn and head back out and we get a small sail to check out the spread but could not get him to eat. We make it in to 650' of water and still nothing. At this point I make the call to head to the sword grounds. 6pm and I have changed the wind-ons and got the rigged squid ready. 7pm and lined are in. 9pm we get a bite and my wind-on fails, bye bye to my light too. The wind picks up and we pull the plug about 11pm. After the long ride in we arive at about 3:30am and call it a night......Final tally 19 hours: 1 bite and not a single fish, he11 I never even caught a buzz

No Kidding? A 6 line spread AND a daisy Chain AND a spreader bar?

Wow, sounds really cool!

Actually, I don't have the faintest idea what any of that means. Last time I went fishing I was with my uncle on a small lake in Kansas. I was ten and we caught lot's of bluegill on fresh-dug worms.

Last Saturday we went out to Egmont Key that sticks out into the gulf. We caught all kinds of fish and kept four nice spanish. We were anchored.

This Saturday went out same place same tide same location got skunked. Like a friend told me a long time ago don't go fishing right after a cold front. So the kids started diving off the boat and everyone had a great time. At least we were at the beach.

It means, at any one time in the day we were dragging over $10,000 of baits and gear around the ocean while burning several hundred gal of petrol hoping for a 20 pound Mahi that will yield 10 #s of meat. That way when I eat that $200/pound mahi I do not have to pretend I am having high end fine dining :D

What it reallly means is we had 6 poles out dragging bait behind the boat and 2 other lines not attached to poles that were dragging things that look like bait schools swimming behind the boat. When the fish are there, it is way cool!
