Hi All,
I've owned my 48 YF for 7 years now and have never thought of it from that perspective.
I think the comparison needs to be made to the 43 DC given it was produced during the same time period as the 48 YF however it was in production 9 years longer.
I'm not a "hull" guy so I can't answer your question specifically, maybe SeaEric could or Robby, jaxfishgyd, canuckdennis, sgharford, vincent, bill allen, or ez2beme (used hof names in case you want to PM them).
As far as layout, I believe a third stateroom may have been a special custom modification, whereas with the 48 it is an option.
The flybridge configuration on the YF also changes dramatically the helm area, making it feel less open.
We own the 3 stateroom, 2 head model. It's an awesome boat, comfortable, strong, seaworthy, an easy handling boat.
Looking at the 43 DC brochure pictures the layout beginning with salon and thru the galley into the forward stateroom is very similar.
