Anybody else?

Hatteras only made 34 of the things (I'm #31), and I'd like to get a sense of who's out there to kibitz with about model-specific questions.

I'm in.

And here is a 48 specific question. does any one know what causes the cracking just outside the wing doors. I saw a lot of this in the boats I was looking at a couple of years ago, and they all had wet areas behind them. Mine is in the early stages, a small crack has developed on the port side with a hollow spot behind it, but it is not yet wet.

And for anyone who missed it, we have better than 170 hours on her this year, most at 1000-1050 rpm, with occaisional runup to clean the cylinders. We are making eight knots, burning 5.5-6.3 gph, including about three hours of generator time a day. Smoke only lasts 10-30 seconds when we run it up. And we are stabilized which is I suspect why we do not get the 8.3 knots specified in the atricle about these boats.

Does anyone know how many of the 48's are cockpit versions. Seems like there are always more of these for sale than the sundeck models.

As I recall, there is another 48 MY on Kent Island, MD. Owners name is Bob if I'm correct.

Mine is a 1982 model (ser #324) and is located in NJ near Sandy Hook. I also saw one in Ft Myers at the Ft Myers city dock in early Dec but I didn't stop but I circled is a couple of times.

Any Hatteras in my opinion is a thing of beauty, however some are more attractive than others. If anyone would like to salivate, check out the 1990, 92' My on YW, only two and a half million . The later model 92's are about double $ but in my opinion, that first 92 was the best looking of all.
Back to reality however, the 53 MY, the 43's and the 48's of course are great looking. It's a pity that so few 48's were built as feature for feature, it's one of the best.

How about if all the 48 owners sign on this thread with location so we may perhaps get to see each others boats.
