Tony, or get the engines from T&S in Crisfield, MD. But Tony actually does repowers and he's a Cummins dealer, too, so he should be your go-to guy. He's done at least one identical boat to yours and mine and knows all the tricks. I would also recommend his Envirovents and his fuel filtration systems, too.

What kind of generator do you plan to get? I might make some suggestions for you.

Thanks Jim made me remember another plus Tony will do all the upgrades aka "Tonys tips" before shipping them out you can also upgrade to his new panel with his advanced alarm system.

Righto about Roger. Get a Kohler, a NL, or a Westerbeke.

I have Yanmar 6ly2am 440 hp in mt '83 Hatt con II,previously had Detroit, much lighter ,faster and tremendously more room to work on them. Can send you a few pics in a few more weeks,Peter

I looked at the upgraded panels for the engines. The only problem I saw with the ones I viewed was that you would have to modify the existing consoles to put them in. I didn't want to do that. For the downstairs station, I took all the gauges out of the panels and installed them into the Hatteras console, which I'd had repainted for the purpose. For the bridge helm, I took all the gauges out and installed them in the original helm console, and then put the Plexiglass shields back over them. (I've had to replace some of the gauges since then- they were VDO, which are no great shakes, let me tell you. I would be better off with all Isspro gauges, no question about it)

I had a problem with space when I added Isspro Turbocators. I made small panels out of Starboard and rearranged all the gauges to fit under the Plexiglass shields so that they would all fit in there. I wanted to preserve the look of the original helm station as much as I could.

The technology is better, now. If I were doing it again I might just bite the bullet and rebuild the whole bridge helm console, what the hell. But I like that it looks at least somewhat original.

Incidentally, the VDO tachs that came with my engines never worked accurately. I finally gave up on them and bought Isspro tachs- which worked perfectly the first time out, agreed top and bottom stations, and have worked fine ever since. And they fit the original holes.

I changed the props to 24''x24'' four blade, smoother ride- better handling docking,The continuous rpm rating is 3000 rpm, tops out at 3300.I cruise her at 2600 giving me 20-22 kts.The boat's typically topped off,4-6 passengers and all the gear to run away and often tow a 13 AB Rib w/a honda 20 4 stroke.I burn about 26-28 gph at cruise, for the size and weight of the boat,I'm very satisfied.I just turned 450 hrs but I've changed the oil every fifty hours ,stay on top of valve adjustment etc.

Spoke with Tom Slane yesterday. He is refitting 3 different 36C Hatts right now. All three have 480HP Cummins QSBs.
