  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' CONVERTBLE-Series I (1964 - 1971)
Bought a 41 8 Months ago and went to see it in Ft Meyers 5 times this winter.
I have looked her over finally and decided it needs new thru hulls.
Did this 1965 have a head in the foreward berth? It has a sink. Anyhow there is a lot of extra
fittings and I was going to eliminate some. A couple look like a witch chewed on them, nasty.
Also the GROUND bolt (small) behind the engine in the hull is loose. What is on the outside of
the Hull? 2 3/16 bolts protrude thru a backing strip about 1" X 4"

Yes i am now doing my own survey ex post facto. The unit took on water at some point
and the engine room is somewhat ratted out. However the wood work in the Galley and cabins is
really nice. What size are the raw water Thru Hulls (8V53 engines)
Anyone have a wiring diagram (at first nothing worked) Now i got the 110 shore power working.
Next will be the 12V

Also in the Main Salon is a nice Dashboard but no Controls, No Wheel, is this standard?
This is my first saltwater boat. I got her in Stewart and brought her across on one engine.
that was interesting manuvering in the locks.

Anyway I am having fun, any help or info would be appreciated.

Sam's may be able to find you a wiring diagram for the boat. There will be more than one, I suspect.

8v53s should have two inch seawater supply valves, I think.

Your best bet on new through-hulls and valves is Groco or Conbraco/Apollo. Stay away from generic junk. And bond all of them.

Post some photos, too, so we can see what you are speaking of. Several of our members own similar boats.

I can help with a few of your questions, and maybe this will help you some as well.

The lower control station was standard, so somebody removed the wheel and other hardware. There was only one head. I can certainly appreciate maneuvering through locks on one engine, even those little weenie locks on the OWW. :)

Hopefully Scott aka boatsb will chime in as he has one of these boats.

There was a crapper in the V. The sink is on the wall behind the head and the potty was under the step in the V.

No shi... I mean, really? And this crapper was actually plumbed in as a factory deal? I guess I didn't do enough snooping around on your boat.

I am in St pete and doing work in Miami so some back and forth. I brought a 34 back from the near dead and understand the painful but rewarding process. If you like we can maybe meet at the boat and I can offer up some very unprofessional but enthusiastic advice and contact info for trades work. This is new interior year (last one was in 96) for us so fixing them up is part of the fun.

Washbasin and head in bow stateroom.

I hate to ask, is this your boat? If so I'm pleased to hear that she is in good hands and coming back to life!

Actually, it's page 5 on the link I posted which shows the basin, but the description is a tad fuzzy where it mentions a second head.

Yes That is the Boat.
The Seller forgot to mention that little Incident. They got her pumped out quickly and then
did some major repairs.

The Head thing. That would have been cozy using the head with your roommate looking on
in the V berth. Good thing their is a big hatch for ventilation.

What are the big (6 or 7" ) sewer pipes in the bottom of the V?
I will post some Pics as soon as i figure it out. (this CumPuter)

In checking the brochures it looks like the Optional Bar with Icemaker Pre-Empts the lower control
station. Any Feedback from other owners?

Curious to see how this has progressed. Any updates available?
