Correct transom doors didn’t appear until 1974. I’ve seen some quality looking jobs but most are butchered sawzall specials. Hatt supposedly reinforced the transom to make up for the stress at the corners of the cutout

Hey, nobody asked me what works best

Here are the C's:
CaliFornia CF
CoLorado CL
ConnecTicut CT

Definite departure from USPS state abbreviations both for Cali and Colorado, probably others too. For sure Nebraska uses NB whereas USPS goes by NE.

Apparently because state boat registration was mandated in 1959 but USPS two-letter abbreviations were not standardized until 1963.

Maybe they figured everybody would navigate to Canada if they tried CA ...
