  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
beautiful boat Paul! Can't believe you are selling it after all the effort and $$$$$ . Good Luck with the sale. A lot of bottom feeders out there.

Nice boat, damn shame to be selling in this market after all the work u put in it.

Saw it yesterday on a Broker's Site. Beautiful boat, I wish I had a time machine.

I know, I know, I know!! It's killing me, especially with what i put into it (not to mention my sweat equity and time). BUT, you gotta be honest about your needs, and right now shoal draft, speed and more modest size are suiting the needs better for what I'll be doing.

One thing's different about selling a boat this time, though -- I don't have any real passion about a new replacement vessel, which is what always drove the process for me in all my other boat trade-ups. You know the way it is -- you have your heart set on the new one, and the old one is yesterday's news. You don't want to look at the old one, you resent every additional dollar of maintenance that has to go into it, etc. Not so this time. I'd almost privately be happy if it DIDN'T sell, because it's a fantastic boat to keep on using. Still, I've got to put it out there to see. If I get my number, it sells. If I don't, it would make zero sense to be paying close to the same for a lot less boat and still face the prospect of putting more refurb money (I know myself!) into that lesser boat.

Thanks, Dave. Don't worry, I've got prob giving the bottom-feeders the bum's rush! I know that thing has been gone over literally from top to bottom, and if they can't appreciate it, they won't get much time from me. I'm that lucky guy who is not in a position of having to sell.

In the meantime, I'm just doing my part by feeding my Detroits to keep the Chinese and Indians from getting any more oil than they deserve.

Well, that makes it a little better. Just stick to your guns on that price... even though you'd be losing your butt if somebody pays that for it.

Let me sell you my 58 and have you get it all spiffed up and sell it back to me for half of what you put into it. I'll deliver it for free.

I'd gladly smoke a case of turds in Hell before I'd get you out of that 2-boat-forever-scenario you got going on up there. You just wouldn't be the Royal Birdness without 2 Hatties, and I'm not about to go changin' that!

Beautiful boat!
I wonder what you could buy out there that would come close to replacing this beauty!
Good luck with the sale, although it seems like a heck of a lot of time and $'s for the benefit of the next owner!

Speaking of owning two boats, you do realize you could flat our purchase another smaller boat for your new needs for a heck of a lot less money than you're going to lose by parting company with the mighty Old School. Add to that the mental anguish you're going to suffer when somebody snatches it up and you're left to ponder your decision a few months down the road. It will take thousands in therapy to return you to your previous state of mind.

Imagine taking to a car dealer a classic Corvette which you just spent an assload of money on restoring and want to trade it (while paying a huge difference) for a new Prius having watched Al Gore speak of the evils of gas guzzlers. Sure, you're going to save a few bucks at the pump and be able to park that thing where the 'vette would never fit, but you'll be sporting around in the only $100K Prius on the planet. When old ladies start laughing at that car, your'e going to miss that classic icon.

Now then, I trust I've made my point, so cancel this listing immediately and blame it on your... uh, mid-life crisis gone terribly wrong.

I think you are making a mistake, or trying to do so. No offense.

I agree but I'm sure he has thought this through. Can't be an easy decision to take a huge hit after so much work and money spent. In the end it may not make sense to let it go for what the deal will net. Going through the process will determine the right course of action for the owner. Everyone's needs and situation are unique to them. What might seem like a mistake to me might be the smartest move for someone else.

Good luck with what ever you decide to do. She looks like an exceptional boat.

Beautiful boat. What is the finish on the interior wood work? It looks super.

Wow, you guys are killing me! You're gonna talk me out of this!

I have no doubt I'll have some regrets when this beauty leaves if something happens sale-wise (a big "if" in this market, honestly). And truly, I don't have any definitive ideas on what I'd do to replace her. I know I'd want smaller and shoal draft to fit into a canal we have at a cottage in the Keys, but that hardly narrows it down. Going that far down in size leaves me with no real itch for the new boat; this is unfamiliar territory for me. Like I said earlier, it was the promise of the new boat that always got me into the market and all excited.

Maybe I can sum it all up by saying I at least took a serious test of the market; if I only get nibbles from bottom-feeders, I'll have my answer and "Old School" will be in my future indefinitely.

The real regret I have right now -- sale or no -- is how darned undisciplined I was in doing the refit. I let common sense and moderation fly out the window from about two months into it. I was in a hurry, when there was no good reason to be. I could have just tackled the functional items (and some moderate cosmetics, maybe) first and taken my time without the big money bleed. But, I was like a little kid that could only think of the endgame. Lesson learned: it's the process that's fun, not the endgame. You always want to have new cool things to look forward to. I'm sure most of you know that by now. It all needed to be done, just not done right NOW.

I appreciate the nice comments, guys.

Epiphanes gloss varnish on about 90% of it. For some reason the PO never varnished the master and VIP staterooms, and I've left those original for now.

Hi All,

Paul,,,,I have to agree with most of the guys above.....if you don't need the money, don't do it, you'll miss her. It's obvious you poured your heart and soul into her.....absolutely stunning.

and in this market you're gong to have to give her away, that wouldn't be right.

If you really want to give her away call me. I will let you use her any time you need. Seriously even if have to kick the family off.

The funny thing is a few of your friends said just wait to you see what he does with this one!
Got to say they were right:)

Its a beautiful boat and you will never have another one like it. I say enjoy the $$$ and time you put in and use it as much and as long as possible it has worked for me!
