My helms read 200 psi.
New mechanical gauges read 150 psi (correct reading)
Any ideas for the discrepancy or solution?
i understand the pump can be adjusted, however, this is an indicator error?!
It’s the oil pressure sending unit on the motor that is bad. Mine did the same exact thing. It read 120 on the starboard engine and 220 on the port engine. I installed mechanical gauges on the transmission and they both run at 120. I was able to buy a used unit from Sky on this site and replaced it and now all gauges work perfectly. You might reach out to Sky because he did have another one he wanted to sell.
When I blew up your dash I saw exactly what mine look like when I bought it. I could barely read what the gauges were for. I took some kaboom and a toothbrush, and just scrubbed all of those engraved letters, and they came out looking brand new. It’s just 40 some odd years of dust buildup.
My mechanic who has been working on diesels for over 40 years tells me it’s 120. And when I put in the new pressure sending unit it went right to 120. Which then matched the starboard engine.
