I was also distressed by how much wallpaper was used throughout the boat to cover the original wood paneling. Some of it was well done. Don't get me wrong, the inside is reasonably clean...just old and tired. I'm more distressed that no effort was made to refinish the trim around the wallpaper before being applied. (Maintenance projects like that sometimes get overlooked while cruising as extensively as this boat has).

The most difficult conundrum here, is that NO other boat in this category gives you what the Hatteras 58LRC does. There is nothing else in it's class for performance construction or comfort long range. The good news for you is that there are 3 58 LRCs available on the east coast right now. All 3 boats have high engine hours. Hull #1 up in Ft. Pierce. This lowest priced one in Ft. Lauderdale, And another one in Annapolis MD. (plus the Alaska boat).

Depending on your budget and your skills...you've picked the right model to cruise the world. The trick now is to buy the best one for the best price. Look at all 3 in person. The Florida boats are only a 2 hour drive from one another. When dealing with boats this old, your eyes will not lie to you.

Thanks Paul, your pictures are a lot different than the ones on the listing. I appreciate the time you took to look at her. Your pictures and opinion are pushing me into another direction I have been wondering about.

I'm beginning to think that the LRCs are a lot more boat than I need to cruise the coast and do island hoping in the Caribbean. I am thinking of looking at the 58YFs as an alternative. I think they would have the capability and range to island hop with good weather.

No harm done! I don't think Paul is a broker. He is a very well versed experienced Hatteras (and other) yacht owner who knows what he's looking at.

Correct. I'm not a broker. I did spend 20 years as a broker 20 years ago. I've owned and restored 25 different boats over the past 50 plus years and have lots of knowledge. Boats are my passion and I try to impart good advice when I can.

You do give good advice and I really do appreciate your looking at the LRC. I have decided to look at YFs though. I think for what we want that is plenty of boat.
