  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
1972 Hatteras 58’ Yachtfish, Excellent history with only One Owner, One Captain & One Mechanic from New to 2005! Ordered from Hatteras in 1971 by an international shipping company owner and vessel was used as his personal family yacht to travel between his summer home on Nantucket, MA to his winter home in Nassau, Bahamas every year from 1972 until 2003. Vessel was purchased by current owner in 2005 and has been continually updated and extremely well cared for. Over $145,000 spent in 2007 alone! Considering the current state of the economy and the depressed boat market she is being offered to fellow HOF members at a very reasonable $285k for a quick sale as we have found another boat and have no desire to be a two boat owner again. Pat, Mum's the word for now.....until I get an accepted contract anyway. We made an offer and the counter was about one Sweet Melissa higher, so it would be nice for the 58YF to go to a good home quickly before we have to come up with more money! :)

Byron,
Since your boat is a 1972 model, does that mean that you have just one shared shower between the aft and mid head with no fwd shower? (I'm trying to decide if I need to jump on this deal you've put forth before you change your mind).

Sky,

It is the standard factory interior layout for this vintage that has a shared shower between guest and master heads (and larger heads as a result) but it does also have a shower with curtain in the forward head, just not a separate stall which again means a larger, more roomy head.

Thanks. I await interior photos.

****** Sale Pending !!!!!******

Congrats, all right now WFT are you buying..............Pat

I thought it was a Broward. Does that mean we can't talk bad about them anymore?

Guess again.
A little birdie told me that it's fiberglass.

A fiberglass Broward?

I was looking seriously at a 104' Broward many months ago, mainly because it had sentimental value to us as we got married on that particular boat's flybridge in the Bahamas back in the 1990's. I got scared by the blisters that are part of owning an aluminum boat and let it pass. It was more boat than I wanted to run anyway so it's all good.

I'll keep you guys posted if the sale on Sweet Melissa goes through and if the new boat gets locked down. Only time will tell.

It just like I always say, the best kept Hatts never actually hit the market. They almost always sell to someone who knows the boat and it's owner. Once you see a boat listed on Yachtworld, you can be sure it's not one of top 2% in terms of maintenance and care.

Good luck, Byron. I hope the sale goes smoothly.

So Sky, you've never seen a fiberglass Broward?

Don't know what they're building now, but they built fiberglass boats back in the 90's and maybe the 80's as well.

I think that's a typo. I'm pretty sure they were all aluminum. I'm no Broward expert, though, so I could be wrong.

Have you personally seen a fiberglass Broward? I know I haven't.

Here is an article on the history written in 2002 before the current owners revived the brand.

"Broward Yachts are the product of Broward Marine, located in Dania, Florida. Broward has been building yachts for over 50 years. Navy contracts led to building their first vessels and one of the first Broward yachts built in the 1950’s, “Alisa V” was 95 feet long and considered to be a megayacht in this era. Soon thereafter, Broward enjoyed decades of being the most sought after yachts.

Broward Marine has focused on creating custom yachts specifically designed for their clients. Frank Denison, the founder of Broward was an avid yachtsman who enjoyed time spent on his creations, but mostly he was adamant about fulfilling his client’s dreams and delivering the finest yachts afloat. Although Broward’s were originally built of wood, aluminum became the material of choice and designers began working to blend the new metal technologies with traditional yacht lines.

Broward has taken into consideration many favorite customer options, and subsequently integrated them into standard equipment for their newest launches. Today, Broward yachts are no longer produced, but they included a sport fish, raised bridge, raised pilothouse, and tri-deck models ranging from 98 to 156 feet in length."

Check YachtWorld. There are several fiberglass Browards listed.
