You really should try not to break the window because when replacing it, you need it for a pattern. It most likely does not have 90° corners (none of mine do even though it appears they do), and when you have the new piece made, you want the old piece back to make darn sure they used your old window as a pattern rather than just saying it's xx by xx inches.
The glass company I use that did that to me once, after I was adamant that they needed to use my old glass as a pattern and my instructions were to return the old glass with the new. Well, they thought they knew better than me, because after all, they were in the business and were the professionals and I wasn't. Guess what....when they presented me with the new glass panel, I laid the old glass on top of the new and showed it to them, and they got the pleasure of remaking it at their expense because they thought they knew better than me and didn't follow my instructions.
So, be sure you get your old glass back to ensure the new panel is the same shape. If you try to put a perfectly square piece of glass in the place where one was that was just a degree or two off of being 90°, you'll have an open gap at one end.
