Maybe it's because your bridge was not removed?

I guess most of us do it mine was cluster F@#k dead end wires everywhere. Some were in a bundle that i had to take apart to find the end.
The old telephone system was everywhere both intercom and land line.

It was, when it was off for a complete paint job years ago, and I had some dead wires to ring back and remove, but nothing like what you all had to deal with.

The wiring problems I had were mostly in the DC charging system. for some reason I could never get a full charge into the batteries. I finally figured out why- there were no return cable to the charger. Everything was set up to come back to the charger through one 14gauge wire. Once I fitted return cables which were the same diameter as the charging cables, everything was fine. I had the boat gone through by a marine electrician as well, and updated a lot of stuff. But I never had a rat's nest like I see in these pictures.
