12 v air compressor?

The 12V air compressor that replaced my burned out 32V compressor about 6 years gave up the ghost today. Any suggestions for a replacement? Everything I can find seems to be those plastic tire inflator things that don't look like they would last very long and would take forever to fill the tank at 120PSI. The compressor operates the air horns and does some minor other work as needed. There's a several gallon tank in place that was used with the 32V. When the 32 burned out I went to a 12 because I couldn't find a 32 and I had 12V available but if someone knows of a 32v compressor, that would be even better.

You have an inverter on board, is there a reason you don't want an AC compressor? It would give a jillion more options...

Yes, I have an inverter (thanks for reminding me, George) and I'll be buying a 120vac compressor!

There are some nice 12 and 24 volt ones that may be able to be ordered as 32.

This boat never had one. The original paperwork for Brigadoon shows that the eng-driven compressor was an option that was not selected by the first buyer/owner. So there was a 32V electrical compressor from new that lasted until 2005. Not bad, considering that its replacement 12V only lasted from then until now.

I removed the Bendix engine driven compressor because I wanted to install a hydraulic pump in its place.

I did do some searches and both buel and Kahlenberg have what appear to be high quality DC compressors.

In the end I went with a 110v unit mounted under the flybridge, near the horns and what I did was select a Air Systems Hookah dive system compressor with two 100' hoses so I can dive on the running gear and clean the bottom etc. Just Tee'd off that unit to run the hons and feed a line down to the ER for air tools etc.

I can vouch for Jsink's quality and good service. I have a gas powered hookah. I needed parts and they were great to deal with.

years ago I had a RV that used an air pressurized 12 volt water sys. odd set up by todays standard but maybe the pumps are still available
