  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
Scattered showers my arss..... Weathermen.

Held out untill 2pm Sat but finally had to pull the trigger, so in the rain it is  . Ran 5 50W off the transom trolling towards the sword grounds. We found a weedline less than 3 miles out and saw some bait fish but no time to stop, for we have a date with the darkside. We ran across several more weedlines but could not work them due to the heavy seas. In 400' we finally hook up with a few peanut dolphin which were released via a fast troll :D . Got the lines back in and everyone is fired up we found fish. Finally a screaming reel and it is a 'hoo. The Tiagra made short work of it and in the box he goes. Made it to the sword grounds just after dark but I had everything ready to go to so we got the setup out quick. Rode it out 'till 11pm then the wind and the sea really started rolling so I called it. Finally made it back to the dock at 3am with a wet and dejected crew, although sleeping they were.

6am Sun. back up and ready, ok, not really but it was 6:30am  . Friggen rain again  oh, and wind to boot! Screw it we're on it. Ran out to do some bottom fishing but again the heavy seas screw up the drift. Defeated by the weather once again, we tucked our tails and trolled back in at 12pm. We had a few more hits on the way in but no hookups.

Dolphin: Skirts and Stretch 30
Wahoo: Skirted ballyhoo
They are there but the seas just need to lay down.

Where are you fishing? What port or inlet are you near? We are thinking of a short trip next weekend but who knows if anything is around canaveral these days?

Ft pierce. It is rough out there and it is a long run back in. Not much fun with the north winds and short period waves. Canaveral surf temp is quite a bit colder than Ft Pierce right now so the 'phins are most likely out of the mix but there should be some wahoo. Bottom should be good as well. There has not been much posted lately but try www.floridasportsman.com, go to forums and then East Central. You should find what you need there.

I talked to one of the forum members who charters and he said his mate landed a few wahoo. Maybe sail in the area too but the fishing has been slow between weather and lack of charters. I hope to get a nice day to take Dad fishing but if its nasty we can cruise the ICW.

Maybe some king fishing? I just checked the sea forcast and it will be rough. Wishing you tight lines for Christmas......

Thanks. FYI I will probably be back down in Ft Pierce next year for Mogan Mania in June. Maybe get the chance to say hello.
