Opened my rudder packing glands yesterday and the packing was in good shape but it looks like the glands could take another layer of packing. It is standard packing and I have some of the gortex stuff, would you add a row of the gortex or get regular packing to add a row. Thanks, John

I am getting new Naiad stabilizers installed. Naiad is suggesting I use a 12 volt water pump for cooling. I know that some installation pull the cooling water from the engine cooling system somehow. Can anyone see a problem with using a 12 volt pump for cooling? John

The enclosed photo is the shaft on an Ocean Alexander 70 from 1983. Does anyone know what this thing is? Could this be a 2 piece shaft coupling where the 2 half’s of the shaft are threaded and actually screw together. That was one guess. Any other ideas? It even has stumped the yard manager here...

The aft most fixed salon windows have a frame and rubber gasget. My window guy says to remove the rubber gasket and the glass will come out without removing the frame. Is this correct and if so are there any tricks for removing the gasket. Thanks, John
