    Temperature alarm system

I am in the process of designing a secondary temp alarm system for my 12V71's as I don't trust my aging 12 point Hatteras alarm. Lauderdale Speedometer sold me a couple of 200 degree switches and an alarm. I was originally thinking of how to make the circuit using normally open switches but they...

    Flybridge Enclosure Replacement

I bought my 55 convertible recently knowing the "eisenglass" enclosure was shot. The enclosure is there but has holes in it, badly stained, etc. I am trying to decide how to proceed on this. After running Lake Ponchatrain a couple weeks ago to flush my coolant I realized how much I need this...

    Instrument Panel Issues

Slowly chipping away at the punch list from the engine survey on my 55 Hatteras '85 Convertible. One of the remaining items is "make necessary repairs to instrument panel". Stbd tach doesn't work at all but the port coincides to what the surveyor had with his equipment. At the sea trial and...

Where do I start this process

Looks like they changed it in 1983. Mine is an 85 model but my book says revised in 1983

    New Galley Floor

One of the priority items on my punch list was getting the new galley floor in and installing a refrigerator. The ice maker had issues with prior owner and when I purchased the galley had no flooring or refrigerator. They had done partial demo on the galley floor. I finished that today and...

A/C filter behind salon couch 55Convertable

I did a search with no results but found a return air a/c grille behind the salon couch that has a pullout bed on my 55 Convertible. The couch appears original and is bolted down. I pulled the bed out and still couldn't access the grille to check the filter or install one if missing. Visually...

    High water alarm float switches

One thing on my boat that needs repair asap is the high bilge water alarm. I have found 4 float switches that I checked continuity on. They appear to be normally closed, not open. Looking at the blue prints they are somehow tied to the systems monitor which has 12 lights. I did the test on it...

    Took the plunge today

Also got a pic of the small rotten area on the port side. Does anyone know where to get the folding hatch holders that keep the hatches open. None of my 3 lids have anything. someone tried to install gas shocks but they depend on something to keep them down. Most of the original boats I have...

    Took the plunge today

Got the hatch and door project finished yesterday. Rained real hard last night and woke up to a dry engine room so I am pleased with the results even though they aren't professional quality. They don't show unless you are in engine room.

    Took the plunge today

I am now an official member of the Hatteras club. I closed on a 1985 55' Convertible. It needs a lot of TLC so I am sure I will be asking questions on here. Engines checked out good on the mechanical survey but there is a long list of deferred maintenance from the survey. I have a twisted...

Sealant for Flybridge Balsa Core Penetrations

Hello I have been reading here a lot but haven't posted much. Have been searching for the proper sealant to use on the screws that penetrate the balsa core and fiberglass skin on benches, etc for Hatteras flybridge. This would be to remove and re-seal original screw penetrations. I know 5200...
