Masthead Anchor Light - 48 Yachtfish

Insert the perko receptacle and then drill a small hole thru the aluminum mast into the recptacle and use a #6 screw to hold them together. Should be similar at the base too. I used a LED bulb to replace the incandesent.

    Shout out to Schaefer Marine

Schaefer Marine, Ideal Windlass company in MA did a great job when I sent my vertical windlass in for overhaul. It came back brand new, all new parts with a newly manufactured gear case. My bearings and seals were bad. When I had a rough time getting the windlass out of the boat due to 5200...

    Thoughts on this 53 Hatteras

It sure looks clean, all the machinery spaces look great. Only downside from my point of view would be no tender, but there are solutions to that. I didn't see a price.

    Shaft log, forward bearing

Hi All. I have been chasing a water leak and am pretty sure at this point it’s coming from the shaft log on the port engine. It fills up in the void between the mid cabin bunks and then drains into the engine bilge via limber hole. See the attached drawing mark up. Also the external pic from...

    Generator fuel pickup

Hi. Are there standpipes in the fuel tanks on the MY and YF models that keep the generators from pulling all of the fuel from tanks when the quantities get low? My AFT gen feeds from the AFT tank, FWD from FWD. I’m curious if they’d shutdown like on newer boats - or run until tanks are dry.

    Beam dimensions, 58YF

Hello, has anyone with the 53MY or 58YF hull measured the actual max beam at the waterline while hauled out? I have been looking at boathouses and will need to know... The specs for my 58YF say a 15'10" Beam. Measuring through the pilothouse doors I come up with 16.0' at the top of the toe...

    Pilot house vs / Flybridge

Flybridge whenever warm enough. I've purposely left it open except for a bimini as well... I'm up there by myself most of the time as the admiral never gets warm enough even in our short summers.

    DD871 TI coolant pipe leaking

Hi. This short pipe is leaking from the underside, pretty well corroded through. I’m going to need two, not sure what to ask for when calling. It is coolant, not raw water. This is the short tube with the flange on one end, hose clamps on the other. Goes into the exhaust manifold. What is it and...

    YF fresh water fill question

Hi - I have the aft main tank in the lazarette that gravity fills the header tank in the guest stateroom, under the bunk. I do have the drawings for the fresh water system. My question is: When filling the water tank, once the aft tank is full I quit when I hear the vent stop chugging and the...

    flybridge storage

Hey Bill, this is what I have on our 76 YF, they look OEM and match the under-bench doors which you can also see in these pics. They have the stainless steel edging held on my tons of little screws and nuts. They can be held open with a little tab that swivels over the door in the up position...

    Flybridge screws, leaks

Thanks all - more to follow. I think I'm going to go the jack and reseal route with new fasteners.

    Bow thruster R and R

Had the MaxPower Thruster shear a pin last summer in the driveleg. Finally was able to haul it out and replace it. I forgot how big these boats are, very cool! 62000 lbs. Had to cut off the old blades, not too bad and the lower unit came out with the help of leverage and a 2x4. Cleaned the...

    Flybridge screws, leaks

Hello, Well the rains are back in force in the great NW, the YF has developed a leak I assume from the flybridge hold down screws into coring, and its coming out of the port side pilothouse door extrior light. Real ugly brown/red stains. Is the fix to rebed all of the screws? Is there a...

AFT deck wetbar, 53 MY and 58 YF

Hello - My question for the 53 MY and 58 YF crowd is for the covering/finish of these wetbars? I think I have the original cabinet judging by the shape and size, but a prior owner covered it with Formica or similar. Both the exterior and countertop. I'm ready to go after it and try to bring...

How much does my YF weigh?

Hi - I need to get hauled to replace the bow thruster, my manual says 49,000 lbs dry estimated. That's got to be pretty low. Anyone have a realistic ball park number? Thx-

    Ideal Windlass problem

Finally fixed the jamming problem, raised the opening of the chain pipe and rebuilt the tube inside the chain locker getting rid of the old hose and PVC tube. Now the ABS chain pipe drops the chain into the locker faster with less friction, and the chain pipe opening is even with the plane of...

    Engine room panels

    Master cabin headliner

Hello, The headliner in my master cabin was replaced by a PO with padded plywood sections that are too heavy for heavy duty velcro they used to hold them up, they sag and fall down. Not cool. I'd like to go back to the original headliner material but wondered how it is fitted around the short...
