Another old Onan question about smoke

Believe it or not, my generator is a 1984 and still going strong. well, it started smoking last year and I imagine it probably has 5-6,000 or so hours. Looking at the parts manual at the breather assembly which has never been taken apart, do you suppose, taking is apart, cleaning etc may in...

    Rudder alignment

Need some advise on Rudder alignment. I've been told it's best to have the rudders toed out. is that true? In any case, here are shots of my port and starboard rudders. The outside of each rudder shows wear or burn, while the inside shows nothing at all. Would seem to me to be cause for...

air condensor replacement 1985 45' Hatteras

Looking for ideas of what people have done when replacing the original condensers on a 1985 45' Hatteras. In the saloon there is table, starboard aft that holds the evaporator and blower. Has anyone retrofitted that to have a self contained unit. Likely a bit noisy. I have emailed steve who...

Flag post with traditional nautical USA Flag

This came off my 1985 45' Hatteras, but I believe it will fit on any Hatteras. The mast is 66" long and the base is 1 1/4". The mast is in perfect condition and the flag is as well, except a little yellowing due to age. It's a classic Hatteras Part. asking $150

Thank you Tom Slane for Irene suggestion

For all of you Hatteras owners, I want to fill you in on a nice call I received from Tom yesterday morning prior to Irene hitting NJ. Several years ago, I purchased hull vents and cockpit tackle center and freezer from Tom. I was very pleased with all that he did for me. Yesterday morning I...

Conversion to Power steering on a 1985 45 Hatteras

Anyone? Any suggestions? I have what I think is a shot rudder ram, so I may just switch the whole thing out. I have the Hynautic sea star brochure but it doesn't seem to match up as I get about 4 1/2 turns on my wheel and they have a spec for 3 or 5 turns. Is it much work to do myself? Look...

Trim Tab Cylinder from older hatts

looking for information on older trim tab cylinders. The cylinder is an older unit where the hydrolic oil tube comes out of the transom and attaches to a plastic nipple on the tab cylinder. I looked at a few manufactures and it appears this style cylinder no longer exists. My plastic nipple...

Station Wagon effect on my 1985 45'

I Cruise at 27-28 knots so I may not get an answer to my question as not to many 45's have this kind of speed. I get quite a lot of spray in the pit and the bridge when at cruise. a friend told me the other day that some of the new Hatts actually have a reverse spoiler on the hard top to...
