  • Scott,

I hear you are the Victron guy to get ahold of around here.

I recently purchased a 53' Hatteras and was intending to put a 48v Victron system on it to be able to survive on the hook a bit better.

I struggled to find a Victron dealer (Ft Myers area) and finally was put into contact with Bob Everhard with emarine systems who pretty much told me that it can't be done and a/c can't be run on batteries. He suggested a 24v system.

I was looking at 2 large quattro inverters
    Lynx distribrution w/ smart shunt
    8 x 25.6 Victron 200ah batteries which would = 51.2v 800ah bank (40.960kwh)
    Autotransformer
various other pieces to complete the system

My theory is it would be possible to run the 110 & 220 systems on the hook with a couple of hours of Northern Lights 20kw generator usage.

What are your thoughts on this? Possible? possible but not smart? or go to a 24v system?

    Thanks!

    -Chris
I saw a post you made concerning upgrading electronics where you mentioned upgrading the transducer. We have an 87 32 fly bridge with 4 thru hull transducer, 2 that are disconnected, and want to put in a chirp transducer for a gar in unit. Can you give any advice on tackling this project, we don't want to pull it then stand there scratching our head. Thanks
    Hey Scott,
Im a new member to the forum as well as a "new" old Hatteras owner. I Have a slip reserved in Port Canaveral as I live in Orlando. From the amount of time I've spent on this site you seem to know Hats in and out. Id love to pick your brain sometime if you have the chance. Give you the rundown on my boat and get some advice if thats ok. Since were going to be neighbors in the same port and all. Looking forward to chatting with you.
