I have the macerator side and pump side off to put new stators and new seals in. It is amazing how much crap (literally) builds up on the metal housings. What is the best way to clean this off? Can you use something like muriatic acid or is this to harsh? Has anyone done this before? Any advise would be great. Thanks in advance, Chris. Also when putting in the new seals and stators are there any tricks?

Your not saying what the build up is made of or looks like. I would start with soap, water and a wire brush. If it's oxidation I don't think you want to remove anymore metal than you need to. I have the feeling that the crap your referring to is under the paint on the housing lifting the paint. If it is. It was caused by the leaking seals and the fluids attacking bare metal from the inside out. It kinda sounds like a J & B weld repair to the rescue. It's already being eaten. You don't want anymore eaten. So don't use any harsh oxidizers, But it needs to be clean and repaired and sealed.

Actually bill it really is crap! It is hardened waste. I have been chiseling it off with a screw driver.

Isn't that nice!!!!

I used a wire brush on the metal bar and a dremmel wire brush on the inside. Make sure you use the soap to lube the new seals.

Muriatic Acid drop the part in wait untill it stops bubbling then rinse it off. 1 2 3 clean as can be just do it outside and be carefull.

Did the rotor and macerator T all come out in one piece together? They should come out together. If the T came off the rotor, there are tricks to reassemble, if not, just screw it on hand tight, since the direction of rotation of the rotor and T will tighten it during operation.

Also, when tightening the bolts around the discharge pump cone, it's best to use a star pattern (like tightening lug nuts) going diagonally across around the circle so you don't get uneven clamping on the stator edge.

Doug the rotor and macerator t came off as one unit. Thanks for the advise, it is greatly appreciated. I'm sure hoping this thing works when it's all put back together! Thanks, Chris.
