Need some info on converting from generator to alternator charging DD 8-71
yes 12 volt 20 amp. How does it function? I have schematic so followed wires but not sure what pulls it in. Unit was cleaned (full of wet oily grime) and Bench tested but could find nothing wrong, broken wires, brushes good, and no internal grounds etc. I will put it back and try adjusting voltage regulator and check other wiring. I should be able to fit alternator with out much issue but can find little info. You have a generator on your 8V71?
Voltage?
What info do you need?
ok thanks for the tip.. ill look into itMust be an old engine with a generator.
Remote generator regulators are like your old Chevy, Key switched enable to start the charging cycle.
Later remote regulator alternator should near be drop in replacement.
I remember a Hatteras fuel pressure switch that turned on the engine clock AND the alternator.
However, I don't think you can't beat a later Delco 20 or 23SI, brush-less alternators with internal regulator.
