- 43' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1978 - 1983)
I made the decision to replace my Vacuflush system with a Raritan Elegance toilet. I completely rebuilt the system 4 years ago when I bought my 45. It stopped flushing last November as I was winterizing the boat, and I finally dug into it today. Well, the vacuum pump has waste sitting on top of the bellows, and I'm not interested in going through it every 4 years, so it's going.
That gives me the opportunity to also replace the holding tank. Someone previously converted the original 140 gallon Hatteras holding tank to be a diesel reserve tank. I'm fine with that, as I fish offshore, and there's no such thing as too much fuel. That said, I measured the existing tank, and its external dimensions are 10" deep x 8" tall by 32" long. That works out to be about 10 gallons - clearly not enough. I have room for 12" deep by 28" high by 36" long, or approx 50 gal. The trick is going to be finding one with those dimensions. Anybody have any recommendations?
