Just passed this one a few miles north of Demopolis. Gotta be a REALLY good story behind this one.

Okay. I get it. You're on the rivers and they use statute miles. I'll give you a pass for now.

Seems we’ve had this MPH/knots discussion before. :)

This from a guy who saw the boat prior to the grounding.

“They (3 guys) were parked next to us the night before in Columbus. Exited the lock and passed us before we could get around the boat in front of us and up on plane. Never assume your boat is faster than the one in front of you. We passed by the next day on way into Demopolis. People were still on the boat and on patio above. Heard stories (called hearsay) at both ends. I only know what I know and what I saw.”

Gotta be an insurance dispute for it to be sitting this long.
 
Oh yeah, seems the boat has been sitting there for two weeks.
 
No new news on this one. Must be keeping it tight lipped.

There’s a good chance I’ll be bringing a 58MY from Alton, IL to Bradenton, FL after I get Dave’s 60MY to Longboat Key. Could get to witness one hell of a show with a salvage operation.
 
Just push her up as you go by and wake it off of there.

We actually had a request to roll a big wake to help free a grounded sailbote that ran outside the marked channel on Kentucky Lake.

Dave was running the boat, and I told him it would be a bad idea. You roll a five foot wake and break something or someone falls down, and you get sued for doing what was asked of you. We idled by as another guy decided to give it a shot with a smaller yacht. It actually worked as they had another boat tied to the stern applying pressure as the wake rolled in.

Speaking of bad ideas, how do you run a jet boat with twin engines if one of them goes down, and you have no rudders?

As a previous jet boat owner. you go in cirlces. No actually I remember it not being too difficult.
It became more difficult when the other engine went down too. You can not however get any speed up with one engine. Limited to idle speed.
