Beenaghetto Rides Again!!

Heading to Cedar Creek Marina in Mount Juliet TN to move my favorite Hatteras with one of my favorite friends, Dave Helsom. Heading to Longboat Key FL.

For those who may be new or don’t remember, that name became an instant classic after I radioed Kingfisher Bay Marina in Demopolis AL en route from Fort Lauderdale to Racine WI a few years back. The good ole boy on the other end of the transmission got confused over the Benedetto name and came back with that reply in questioning the name. That has been a source of laughter for years now, and it’s also been a source of pointless censorship which I trust won’t happen again.

It’ll be different from the previous trip in terms of water levels on the rivers and daylight hours. If all goes well, it should be a two week trip. Should we lose an engine (anticipating the inevitable comments ), it’ll still be a two week trip and won’t be the first time we one wing it on this boat.

Should be a fun trip. I’ll keep y’all posted as we make our way south. Here’s a shot of the old girl in Clifton TN from the earlier trip. 60MY that is in bristol condition.

I've never been aboard but I hear she's certainly not ghetto. And Trina is very nice.

Dammit Randy, no single engine comments! If we do loose one I’ll be hoping to have my single engine/bow thruster only restriction removed. Looking forward to having you my friend! Trina is so grateful you’re able to “fill in” for her. Oh and mom asked me to tell you she’s saving some leftovers for you for when we get to LBK.

Awesome! I didn’t know Roberta was going to be at LBK. Will be nice to see her and Frank again.

Left out of Mount Juliet this morning and called it a day in Ashland City. Boat ran like a charm, as always.

By the time this trip is finished, I will have spent over seven weeks on this boat. I’ve moved bigger and more expensive boats than this one, but it’s still my favorite.

Shooting for Green Turtle Bay tomorrow, but it’ll be a 12 hour run IF we don’t have a delay at the only remaining lock.

I recall the owner/manager passed a couple of years ago. Great guy.

Quick update.

We made GTB the second day and Clifton Marina yesterday. Both required running after sunset.

Had a short day today and stopped at Grand Harbor at the beginning of the Tenn-Tom waterway. Had planned to make Bay Springs Marina in MS, but the loopers had everything tied up. Weather was crappy, and anchoring would have been less that desirable.

Hoping to make Columbus Marina tomorrow, but that will require perfect timing of six locks and still require some post-sunset running. These shorter days are a pain when it comes to hitting my usual marks. We’ll just have to deal with it and will likely end up anchoring more than one night before we hit Mobile.

Boat is running flawlessly as usual.
