Is Facebook Killing The HOF?

The big downside of FB, besides the ads and crap, is that it’s very difficult to search a group and it’s a pita to get back to a specific thread. No competition for HOF

And yes, l can’t stand sucksberg and his ultra liberal meddling. That said, FB gives easy access to a variety of interest news which would otherwise require visiting a dozen websites

Yes, this. Can't search face book for solutions to issues. Here you can find answers from years back!

I think new Hatteras owners probably find the FB forum first, then maybe get lucky enough to find this here. Might be useful to "advertise" this forum in the FB header?

If you have a question and want an answer, this is the platform to use. I look at both the other sites but any body asking a question there will never get a proper answer unless it's from a HOF cross over member. Even then sometimes they don't like the answer. I agree that its generational.

I could not have done some of the restoration without this site. Hours of searching and reading old threads. Sure hope they leave this place alone. Reminds me of the old riding and car forums from 20 years ago.
The wife is on FB hatteras pages. Seems like a lot of filler with the occasional info gem. I'm 44. No other social media save for an old reddit account.

I don't do MyFace either, but I wonder if this isn't a generational thing. Is the younger demographic of new Hatt owners more drawn to that than conventional forums?

Yeah, it's a generational thing......that's the reason its called BOOMERbook.

I can't comment about FB because I don't have a FB account. But from the numbers, it sure looks like this site gets plenty of activity:

Who's Online

10 members and 1839 guests

Most users ever online was 5288, 03-03-2024 at 02:59 PM.
You have to understand that those numbers are meaningless as there are God only knows how many bots are lurking.

The number of members online yields a more accurate number although members can view the site without logging in.

Get off my lawn!!

Hey, if nothing else, this got people talking again. :D

It’s all good, was just curious, that’s all. As I’ve said many times before, this group is a great resource, but for whatever reason, we sure have lost a lot of folks over the years who have made the switch. Definitely not advocating/advertising Facebook. It just is what it is.

Hear hear! Before I tackled installing my first (let alone 2nd and 3rd) a/c units I read threads on here exhaustively. I can't cheer HOF enough, it walked me thru numerous issues. And the members were supportive as H--- when we lost Pau Hana.

I am on this site even when I don't have a problem, usually daily. I also watch for 'potential' problems others experience and shamelessly mine the threads for info. I wouldn't consider a brand that didn't have this level of participation.

Now if I could just get my pictures to load right side up!

I agree that facebook is for beginners and the HOF is for seasoned pros. and yes i am on both daily

Y’all have never had a stripper message you between sets to water her crops in FarmVille and it shows!
