Looking to upgrade my plotter with a Garmin 8215 frm Max Marine - thoughts anyone?

I have VERY old and out of date intruments in the Pilot House of my boat (a Garmin 5215 on the fly bridge that works well) and am looking to upgrade to a Garmin (to stay in the Garmin family for the 5215) 7215 or 8215 unit. Looking at Max Marine for the hardware. Does anyone have any thoughts on either of the two MFDs i listed (or Max Marine, that matter)?

I have a pair of 8617 on the 116 I run, they re pretty good.

Couple of minor annoying interface designs like when you tap an AIS target, you have to go thru 2 selection buttons to find the ais data and then it is split over two pages when it could have all fitted on one page. Also the radar tracking doesn’t work as well as Furuno Navnet 3D

I ve bought a few things from Max Marine over the year. No issues.

82xx is discontinued about 10 years. Look for modern alternatives.

Garmin 86xx is current as is the xx43 series.

Both will be a huge upgrade.

I sell a lot of Garmin but I also sell furuno, raymarine, simrad/navico and other brands

The boat is in Panama City, FL. There is a guy here that can do Garmin support. Several of the guys I use for various systems that have him in their network. Time will tell, I suppose.
