  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
While I realize I need to check wire sizes, breaker sizes, and plumbing. Couldn't I replace my pull knobs to momentary push button, and wire to the Raritan 24v head? Thanks

Not sure what pull knob you are talking about... are you talking about an off switch some people call a night switch? VF normally don’t use external switches

When I converted my heads from VF to Raritans I pretty much used the same wiring and hoses.

Pascal, yes I am talking the night switch that is a pull knob that I believe powers my vacuflush pumps.

Then yes replace it with a momentary push switch to power the new head. Raritan has various options including electronic controls. I used the cheap momentary push switch. Works great. I can decided on how long to flush based on what needs to be flushed as holding Tank level/pump out availability

Pascal, so you used the power/wires in the vanity sink areas at the vacuflush switches to power your Raritans? I am looking to upgrade asap to the elegance series with the simple momentary push buttons. I would like to get plan out my wire runs to the new heads before I pull out the vacuflush heads.

Anyone ran wires from the vanity area to the heads on a late 80's 52c? Thanks,

I had factory installed Galleymaid heads. Near the old head pumps were terminal strips that supplied power to the head pump and switches. I connected there for the new Raritans.

Get out your flashlight and look around see where the wires are now and maybe you'll find something like that.

Its nice to use the same circuits so your breakers for each head remain the same; no relabeling.

I am assuming I have a 24v circuit that goes from the breaker panel to the "night switch" which is in the vanity of each head and then back to the vacuum pump which is located outboard and forward of my port engine. At lease the positive wire anyway. Wiring schematics also show this arrangement.

The wire to the switch may be of a smaller size than the one to the pump. You will probably have to pick up the wire from the pump to the new head. Go look at it all. That is the only way to tell. And don't trust all of internet responses. You need to know what you have there before you can figure out what to do. If you're not comfortable doing this job, hire the professionals.
